Tapping House
Following the success of our fund-raising efforts in 2025, when we entered a team in the GEAR 10K run, (a big thank you again to everyone that encouraged and supported us) we are proud to now be ongoing corporate sponsors of Tapping House Hospice. To operate, the charity needs to raise over £4million annually, and we recognise that committing to and providing regular support helps the Hospice have at least a little more confidence day to day.
Over the years many clients and their families have been helped by the team at Tapping House, providing sensitive and effective support at a most difficult time, and we are always humbled and impressed by the dedication and enthusiasm shown by all those involved.
We believe Tapping House is a vital local community service providing sensitive and effective support to individuals and families at the most difficult time. Their philosophy is to focus on the ‘rest of life’ not the end of life, and this is evident in the many activities and support, not only for the patients but those around them.
Their vision is that every person affected by a life-limiting condition will be offered choice and access to excellent rest-of-life care and bereavement support. Tapping House believe in living life to the end and bringing joy to patient’s lives. They work with everyone as an individual, supporting them on each step of their journey through their outpatient unit, inpatient unit, and in patients own homes to live a good life and achieve a good death, in their place of choice. Many do not know that they also work closely with their families, and offer bereavement support. Their aim is to deliver the most compassionate, dynamic and proactive rest-of-life care to patients and their families.
Tapping House are a charity and the only independent Hospice in this part of the UK. All charities, but particularly small local ones, face increasing challenges to maintain current support services, with rising staff and general operational costs. Annual costs for the Hospice are currently £5.7 million, and less than 30% is funded by government. This means they need to raise over £4 million every year to be able to provide these services in our local community.

GEAR 10k Team raises over £1800 for Tapping House
We entered a team in the GEAR 10k in May to help raise much needed funds for Tapping House Hospice. Although one of the smallest, at just 4 members, the team still managed to place 9th overall in the GEAR corporate challenge.
Director Robin Williams, seen here with some of the MFP runners and presenting the cheque to Lindsey Atkin of Tapping House, said: “Tapping House relies on local businesses and organisations for support, we’re pleased to have played a small part knowing that over the years some clients and their families have been helped by the amazing team at Tapping House”.
Lindsey Atkin added “We are so grateful to the team at Mapus Financial Planning for choosing Tapping House to support - as an independent charity, who receives only 25% of our funding from the government we simply would not be able to operate without the support of our community. With the backing of local businesses, organisations and individuals we are able to provide compassionate, dynamic and proactive rest of life care.”
